Enrichment techniques for small felids at Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle

Authors

Abstract

Enrichment is integral to the husbandry and management of small felids at Woodland Park Zoological Gardens, Seattle. Effective environmental and behavioural enrichment can reduce stereotypic behaviours and promote behavioural patterns which resemble those of wild felids. This paper describes the diverse range of simple, inexpensive and easily obtainable enrichment items that have been used at Seattle WP to create a complex and stimulating environment for small felids.
