Abstract The roots of modern thinking about freedom, justice, and human rights are also those of racism and racial superiority and inferiority. Yet the Christian vision, even in New Testament times, was of a multicultural, multi-ethnic, inclusive community of justice. The author explores the concrete ecclesial implications of such a multicultural vision for witness, liturgy, distribution of power, and critical appropriation of ethnic and cultural traditions.
