Fronteras y Colonialismo: Una Reflexión Desde La Frontera México-Guatemala

  • Andrés Fábregas

From the point of view of two classics of the frontier thesis, Frederick Jackson Turner and Owen Lattimore, the author developed his own thesis about the formation and consolidation of the border between Mexico and Guatemala. The author remarks the process of colonization in the jungles of Mexico's southwest, as a result of National Mexican State policies and the role of the state of Chiapas in those policies. In the author's opinion, globalization is a colonial process and in this context it is very important to note the migrations to the United States in order to understand the contemporaneous situation of the border Mexico-Guatemala.
