Assessing the Assessment: A Review of the President's Commission Report

Authors

Abstract

ABSTRACT  The work and published Report of President Carter's Commission on Foreign Language and International Studies have been the subject of considerable discussion in the foreign language profession over the last two years. This review puts the whole project into some historical perspective, and while some skepticism and disappointment with the way the Commission worked is expressed, the review ends on an optimistic note about where the Report can lead.
