Abstract

ABSTRACT Index cards provide an inexpensive and readily available alternative to computer-assisted instruction. This article describes a method of using index cards to teach both vocabulary and grammar. The cards have a question on one side and an answer on the other, so that the student receives immediate reinforcement. Various types of exercises that can be utilized are described, and suggestions for use of index cards are given. Some sample index cards are included.
