Abstract

ABSTRACT  This article examines the implications of the ACTFL Provisional Proficiency Guidelines for the writing curriculum. It argues that the functions identified in the Guidelines should be practiced in writing as well as in speech. The issue of error correction technique is discussed and examples of writing assignments that elicit advanced-level functions (narration and description) are included.
