ABSTRACT A unique, interactive videodisc self-study program to teach Russian speaking, reading, and listening skills to adults will be completed in 1993 at the new Federal Language Training Laboratory in Washington, D.C. Equivalent to a 120-hour, teacher-delivered course, it is designed to produce speaking proficiency at the FS1 level 1. This article discusses the course content, methodology, architecture, role of the student, and development process.
