Author Information

  1. Chie Sakakibara is an Assistant Professor of Geography and Planning at Appalachian State University, Boone, North Carolina. Previous to this appointment, Sakakibara was a Fellow at the Earth Institute and the Center for Ethnomusicology at Columbia University. She received her Ph.D. in 2007 from the University of Oklahoma in Cultural Geography. Sakakibara has published widely on cultural response to climate change among the Iñupiat of Alaska’s North Slope. Her book on climate change and cultural resilience of the Iñupiat is under contract with the University of Arizona Press (to be published in September 2012).
