In 2007, the Japan Diabetes Society established The Committee on the Standardization of Diabetes Mellitus-Related Laboratory Testing, which published an announcement including international clinical harmonization of glycated hemoglobin in Japan in J Jpn Diabetes Soc 2012; 54: Issue 12 (in Japanese). An abridged version of this commentary was published on the website of Japan Diabetes Society†.
