Summary
Paralysis of a nostril is uncommon in horses and is reported to occur secondary to trauma to the facial nerve. This report of a mare who presented with bilateral nostril paralysis includes descriptions of the clinical presentation, surgical and post operative results and discusses the features unique to this case. The technique involves surgically elevating and stabilising the lateral alae dorsally to enlarge the nostril opening.
