Summary

In their life cycle, especially at early life stages, fishes pass through distinct growth stanzas with different length-weight relationship patterns. Salmonid fish fry emergence from the redd gravel is a crucial moment in their life history. This study presents an ontogenic change in allometric length–weight relationship scaling of sea trout Salmo trutta at the time of emergence from the natural redds in a small lowland stream of western Lithuania. The paper also gives shrinkage rates and correction factors for emergent Salmo trutta fry after protracted formalin preservation.
