A metabolically engineered high Î³-PGA productivity strain was created in a glutamate-independent Î³-PGA-producing strain. The final generated NK-PV strain showed the highest Î³-PGA production, which was 63.2% higher than that of the wild-type NK-1 strain; moreover, the Î³-PGA purity in NK-PV strain were also higher than that of the NK-1 strain.
