Please join us to discuss

April 16–30, 2013: “Deep Brain Stimulation for Central Pain”

July 7–21, 2013: “Neuromodulation for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)”

This April, Alex Green, MD, and Tipu Aziz, FMedSci, of the University of Oxford, moderate an online discussion session for members of the International Neuromodulation Society. Please join us from Tuesday, April 16–Tuesday, April 30, 2013 to discuss their experience with deep brain stimulation for central pain.

The next session is Sunday, July 7, 2013 through Sunday, July 21, 2013 concerning CRPS. It follows publication in this issue of a review article that suggests spinal cord stimulation should be considered earlier than a last resort for CRPS, written by Elliot Krames, MD; Lawrence Poree, MD; Timothy Deer, MD; Robert Levy, MD; Jason Pope, MD; and Louise Schultz.

INS Secretary Marc Russo, MD, who has treated more than 1,100 CRPS patients since 1999, is scheduled to lead that discussion with invited experts. Director of the Hunter Pain Clinic in New South Wales since 1999 and founder of the Australian chapter of INS, he is running an investigator-initiated trial of high-frequency spinal cord stimulation for CRPS, and in 2011 at the INS 10th World Congress in London presented on “Epidemiology of CRPS and Planning of Services to Prevent, Detect and Treat.”

To participate, please login at, navigate to the Members-Only Section, and open the link to the “Global Discussion Forum and Online Expert Panel Sessions.” Details about the INS online expert panels are available at
