  1. Chemical diversity on display in the plant innate immune systems of closely-related species Volume 192, Issue 3, 566–569, Article first published online: 19 October 2011

New Phytologist 192 (2011), 566–569.

Since its publication, it has been brought to our attention that there is an error in Fig. 2 of Clay (2011), where the chemical structure of rapalexin A is incorrect in that the isothiocyanate group is attached to the indole ring via a methylene group; the isothiocyanate should be directly attached to the indole ring. The correct figure is printed below.

Figure 2.

Interconnected metabolic branch pathways of indolic secondary metabolites identified in Arabidopsis thaliana. The figure summarizes published data (Bottcher et al., 2009; and references cited therein) and includes newly identified metabolites whose biosynthetic origins are largely unknown (Pedras & Adio, 2008). IAOx, indole-3-acetaldoxime; I3CO2CH3, methyl indole-3-carboxylate. Closed circles, positions on the indole ring that may contain methoxy or hydroxy substitutions; open circles, positions on the indole ring that may contain methyl substitutions.

We apologize to our readers for this mistake.
