Paul Helmke is professor of practice in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs and director of the Civic Leaders Living-Learning Center at Indiana University in Bloomington. He is former president and chief executive offi cer of the Brady Center/Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, former president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, and former mayor of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
