rec12009-sup-0001-AppendixS1.pdfPDF document100KAppendix S1. Plant species observed in reference and constructed pools at Travis Air Force Base Aero Club site from April 2000 to April 2009. Common names, if available, are in parentheses following the scientific name. Source for all names is Hickman (1993). Placement of vernal pool endemic (VPE) species into sub-categories describing their affinity for vernal pools was based on Keeler-Wolf et al. (1998). These categories are: “vpi,” vernal pool indicator; “vpa,” vernal pool associate; “vpi?,” a species that is a vpi in some regions; “vpa?,” a species that is a vpa in some regions. The category “gen” describes generalist species that are not specific to vernal pools. Asterisk in front of species name indicates that the species is not native to California. Note: We did not include Lythrum hyssopifolium as a VPE in our data analyses; although it is listed as a “vpa?,” it is not native to California.
