RE: Evaluation of Two Objective Methods to Optimize kVp and Personnel Exposure Using a Digital Indirect Flat Panel Detector And Simulated Veterinary Patients. Copple et al. Vet Radiol Ultrasound, 2013;54:9–16.
The authors attribute a recommendation to use 100 kVp and 2.5 mAs for all small animal imaging studies, regardless of patient thickness, to the results of the 2008 Animal Insides Digital SHOWDOWN.
This is incorrect. The concept of using a single technique for all small animal examinations stemmed from personal unofficial communications and should not be associated with any specific vendor. It was used as a point of comparison simply to show potential problems with such an approach. The authors apologize for this error.
