The In(put)s and Out(put)s of the Drosophila Circadian Clock

Address for correspondence: Michael W. Young, Laboratory of Genetics, The Rockefeller University, 1230 York Avenue, New York, NY 10065.

Circadian clocks are aligned to the 24-h environmental day via zeitgebers, and information from the clock must be relayed to the rest of the organism. Recent studies addressing temperature as an input to, and the generation of rhythmic gene expression as an output from, the Drosophila central clock are discussed.
