Although iris neoplasia in the cat is relatively uncommon, melanoma is the most common form encountered (Duncan and Peiffer, 1991). For the practitioner, changes in iris pigmentation in cats present a challenge in diagnosis and advising owners on the best course of action. The aim of this article is to summarise the salient features of iris melanoma and the factors involved in decision-making.
