Abstract

This essay provides an overview of key issues in the recent literature on migration, minority status, and schooling in Europe. It articulates a plea for U.S.-Europe comparisons. By focusing on some emergent themes, including the problem of variability in minority schooling in Europe and the United States, the essay proposes a tentative typology for exploring comparative aspects of migration, minority status, and schooling.
