Books and Computer Response Activities That Support Literacy Development

Authors

Abstract

Computer activities related to literature can enhance young children's literacy development. Internet sites, multimedia games, and talking books all add to story experiences. Indeed, when shared readings of picture storybooks include Internet “field trips” about book themes or topics, children have unique occasions to build background knowledge that supports story comprehension. The books described here include annotations for age-appropriate computer resources and activities.
