An incorrect reference was provided in Cancer Risks Associated With External Radiation From Diagnostic Imaging Procedures. Linet MS, Slovis TL, Miller DL, Kleinerman R, Lee C, Rajaraman P, Berrington de Gonzalez A. CA Cancer J Clin. 2012;62:75-100.
Figure 1 (also shown on the cover of the March/April 2012 issue) is correctly reproduced and attributed to Mettler FA et al. Radiology 2009;253:520-531. However, the correct source of information for the estimated annual per capita total radiation exposure of 5.6 mSv for 2006 (based in part on the estimated 2.4 mSv annual per capita exposure from natural sources of radiation) is the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR) 2008 report (reference 39), not the cited reference to the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP) Report 160, 2009 (reference 25). Both the UNSCEAR 2008 and NCRP 2009 reports estimate the annual per capita radiation exposure from medical sources as 3.0 mSv.
