Editorial: The national cancer data base: A vital commitment



Since the 1930s the American Cancer Society and the American College ofSurgeons have been working together to create and support programs thatcollect and report on data on cancer patient care at a national level. TheNational Cancer Data Base is the direct result of this commitment. Fundedthrough private donations and dependent on the voluntary, nonreimbursedtime of hospital staff, it provides vital information on cancer patientcare in the United States.
