ZnO nanoparticles dispersed in regioregular P3HT form the active layer (see figure) of a solar cell that converts up to 27 % of incident photons at 480 nm into electrical current, with a power-conversion efficiency of about 0.9 % in sunlight. Thermal annealing is necessary to achieve this performance and improves charge-carrier transport.
