A new terthiophene derivative DCV3T (see figure), end-capped with electron withdrawing dicyanovinylene groups, is used as acceptor material in organic thin film photovoltaic cells. Preparing blend-layers from this material and fullerene C60, an excitonic pin-pong effect can be observed, which is utilized in photovoltaic cells.
