A high-performance polyaniline electrode was prepared by deposition of aniline on a hierarchically porous carbon monolith (HPCM; see figure). Many of the advantages can be attributed to the backbone role of HPCM. This electrode is characterized by high specific capacitance, high power and energy density, high stability, and low cost, making it very promising for use in supercapacitors.
