A “thioclick” synthetic route to sulfur-rich polymers is developed. Regioselective alkyne polyhydrothiolations of dithiol and dipropiolates are mediated by organo bases under mild conditions, affording poly(vinylenesulfide)s with high stereo regularities in high yields. The polymer films are readily photolyzed to afford fluorescent patterns. Their high refractive indices are further enhanced (up to 2.06) by metal complexation.
