The characterization, ferroelectric phase stability and polarization switching in strain-free assemblies of PbZr0.3Ti0.7O3 (PZT) nanostructures are described. The local ferroelectric properties are assessed using piezoresponse force spectroscopy and demonstrate spatial mapping of the switching polarisation (see figure). A significant reduction in Curie temperature is observed by variable temperate XRD and is explained using a direct variational method and Landau–Ginzburg–Devonshire (LGD) theory.
