Ferromagnetic Fe3P films are readily deposited on quartz substrates at 400 °C using the single-source molecular precursors H2Fe3(CO)9PR (R = tBu or Ph) in a simple, low-pressure metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) apparatus. The films exhibit exceptional phase purity and the structural, spectroscopic, and magnetic data obtained from the films agree well with data obtained from pure bulk Fe3P.
