The image presents an ideally balanced ambipolar organic field-effect transistor (FET) in which both electrons and holes are able to move. Conventionally, conjugated polymers exhibit either high hole transport property or high electron transport property. Changduk Yang and co-workers, on page 1910, achieve ambipolar transport properties with a single-component visible-near-infrared absorbing copolymer. Its inverter, constructed with the combination of two identical ambipolar FETs, exhibits a gain much higher than values usually obtained for unipolar logics.
