Co nanoparticles in a C60 matrix are studied and a novel magnetoelectric coupling appears in the material. A large magnetic switching effect is realized, where an external electric field controls the magnetization alignment of the Co nanoparticles and an external magnetic field controls the charging states of the nanoparticles.
