Ferromagnetic oxides (M-Ox, with M = Mn, Fe, Co, and Cr) nanocrystal arrays are synthesized using a template-free facile approach through decomposition of a pulsed laser deposited bismuth metal oxide (BiMO3) precursor. This decomposition produces bismuth oxide (Bi2O3) and metal oxide (M-Ox) pockets. The subsequent cooling in vacuum volatizes the Bi2O3 leaving an array of monodisperse nanocrystals.
