The integration of functional oxides on silicon requires the use of complex heterostructures where the structure and properties strongly depend on the strain state. A Raman study of a multilayer BaTiO3/LaNiO3/CeO2/YSZ thin-film structure on silicon is reported, demonstrating that wavelength-dependent Raman scattering is well adapted for the investigation of strain and structural changes in complex heterostructures or even nanocomposites.
