Di(p-methoxylphenyl)dibenzofulvene and its analogues are investigated. Two crystalline forms of di(p-methoxylphenyl)dibenzofulvene are strongly blue- and yellow-green-emissive, whereas the amorphous solid is weakly fluorescent with orange emission. The results also manifest that the solid-state emission of diphenyldibenzofulvene can be tuned by varying the length of the alkoxyl chains. Moreover, their microrods exhibit outstanding optical waveguide and amplified spontaneous emission behaviors.
