A series of 1,8-naphthyridine derivatives with high thermal stabilities are synthesized and their electron-transporting properties for green electrophosphorescence are investigated via a multilayered organic light-emitting device using fac-tris(2-phenylpyridine)iridium [Ir(ppy)3] as the phosphorescent emitter. A maximum external quantum efficiency of 13.2–13.7% and a maximum power efficiency of 50.2–54.5 lm W−1 are obtained using the naphthyridine derivatives.
