Branched nanorods with α-Fe2O3 as the branches and β-MnO2 as the stems are synthesized by the high-temperature annealing of FeOOH epitaxially grown on the β-MnO2 nanorods. These branched nanorods present an excellent lithium-storage performance in terms of reversible capacity, cycling stability, and rate capability.
