A combination of lithography and thermoplastic forming allows for the precise fabrication of honeycombs from bulk metallic glass and selective manipulation of its structure. As reported on page 3161 by Jan Schroers and co-workers, the deformation behavior of such honeycombs can be controlled through microstructural design, from brittle to ductile, by changing the length to thickness ratio of the ligaments.
