Domain walls (DWs) in highly insulating, millimeterthick lithium niobate (LiNbO3) single crystals show a pronounced electric conductivity when being illuminated by super-bandgap light. As reported by Lukas M. Eng and co-workers on page 3936, this conductivity can be tuned by engineering the tilting angle of the DWs with respect to the polar axis. The results are obtained using conductive atomic force microscopy and macroscopic transport measurements at various temperatures.
