Study of silk wound dressings with EGF and silver sulfadiazine with a cutaneous excisional mouse wound model is described. Changes in wound size and histological assessments of the wound tissues over time confirmed that functionalized silk biomaterial wound dressings improved wound healing rate and reduced scar formation, when compared to empty and a commercially sold wound dressing.
