Andrew R. Hamilton, Nancy R. Sottos and Scott R. White Self-Healing of Internal Damage in Synthetic Vascular Materials Advanced Materials 22
Vascular networks of microchannels (ca. 200 μm) are employed to deliver healing agents to regions of damage within an epoxy matrix material. Mechanical recovery from multiple cycles of damage is observed owing to the continuous supply of healing agents, and despite the intersection of crack damage with individual microchannels and subsequent disruption of the vascular network.
