The ability to prepare monodisperse silicon nanocrystal (ncSi) samples promises to have a huge impact on the development of silicon nanomaterials and technology, as it opens the door to study and access tunable size-dependent properties. Recent contributions in size-separation methods to achieve monodisperse samples, the characterization of size-dependant property trends, and the development of ncSi applications are discussed.
