This Progress Report reviews recent advances in the elucidation of chemical degradation mechanisms occurring in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Deterioration pathways and products of different types of materials are summarized and their commonalities highlighted. Specific structural features and moieties that can be detrimental to operational stability are identified.
