S. R. White, J. S. Moore, and co-workers show on page 2578 how solvent is released from core–shell microcapsules after scratch damage to a capsule-containing polymer layer and conductive silver ink. The release of the solvent enables the redistribution of the silver particles within the conductive ink, which contains a soluble polymer binder, allowing the autonomic restoration of conductivity to a damaged circuit.
