Hierarchically structured TiO2 nanotube arrays composed of anatase and rutile nanocrystals on rough anatase nanotube walls and rutile flower-like layer on top of anatase nanotubes are produced. The resulting DSSCs exhibit a significantly enhanced power conversion efficiency of 7.24%, as a consequence of the synergy of higher dye loading, superior lightscattering ability, and fast electron transport.
