Vitamin pills sitting on a substrate are illustrated. A similar arrangement, on a much smaller microscopic scale, is used to build a vitamin droplet laser made of FDA-approved human-compatible biomaterials. Daily-taken vitamin B2 is used as the optical gain medium, and vitamin-doped microdroplet lasers with a low-level threshold are embedded on a super-hydrophobic poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) substrate. This work is described by S. H. Yun and co-workers on page 5943.
