An optical printing technique to position a 150 nm diameter gold nanoparticle onto a linear three-hole photonic crystal nanocavity is described. The electromagnetic interaction between the nanoparticle and the cavity mode is evidenced, with the field within the cavity dissipated by driving the nanoparticle plasmon. This method opens possibilities for the construction of new photonic devices and sensors.
