AgSnmSbTem+2 is a promising, Pb-free, thermoelectric material system. The effect of the SnTe/AgSbTe2 ratio on the thermoelectric properties of the AgSnmSbTem+2 series is strong. The electrical conductivity of samples increases with the SnTe/AgSbTe2 ratio, while the Seebeck coefficient decreases. The thermal conductivity is very low for samples with m values up to ≈4. For the samples with m = 4 at 710 K, a high figure of merit (ZT) of ≈1 is obtained.
