A high-capacity (over 200 mAh g−1) FeF3 cathode is prepared by topotactically densifying and amorphizing an open parent framework (pyrochlore type). Under the participation of single-wall carbon nanotube networks, the FeF3 nanosheets are curled into porous microspheres with a hierarchical electron/ion wiring network, arising from the bilateral interaction of ionic liquid with carbon-nanotube and fluoride surfaces.
