Using a lens array applied to the top of a patterned luminescent solar concentrator (LSC) results in a device that out-performed a standard, dye-covered waveguide. The lenses focus incoming light onto the patterns, and the patterns reduce re-absorption losses during light transport. This is the first instance of a partially covered LSC waveguide that out-performs a fully covered waveguide.
