A new scaffold mat erial similar to the main corrosion product of ferritic stainless steel, MnFeCrO4 for the development of impregnated SOFC electrodes is reported. An alternative material for yttria zirconia (YSZ) scaffolds is proposed to address the degree of compatibility between the ferritic steel interconnect and electrode, mostly at the interconnect/electrode interface. Such an intermediary layer may improve the physical and chemical connection between the interconnect and electrode.
